A Danish Police Officer visits Seattle
On Monday, July 6,2015, Danish IPA Member Nicholas Ranfelt arrived in Seattle with his nine year old son Oscar. Nicholas is a Police Sgt in West Copenhagen and a Team leader in a Bike patrol squad. He was very interested in meeting Seattle Police Bike Officers as he has read about their tactics on the Internet. Sgt Paul Gracy with the Seattle Police West Pct arranged for a meeting with bike squad member Sgt Jim Dyment who graciously gave Nick a detailed tutorial of the history, background, and tactics of Seattle's bike squad. We then were given a station tour and also a ride in a squad car which Oscar especially enjoyed. During the ride, Sgt Gracy was able to show Nick bike officers on patrol.
Nick and Oscar stayed at my place for two nights. So, on Tuesday, we toured Seattle. The tour included the Space Needle and the Ducks. They left Wednesday morning on their way to Oregon to stay with friends. Their next IPA stop is Las Vegas.
I did enjoy hosting them.
